3 places to camp this spring in Montgomery County
As winter turns to spring, campsites are opening up across the county.
The camping season officially started last weekend, according to Montgomery Parks, and bathhouses and running water will now be available at various sites.
Here’s a list of three popular campsites around Montgomery County and how to book a stay.
1. Little Bennett Campground
Little Bennett Campground in Clarksburg is equipped with 91 wooden campsites, as well as yurts, cabins and RV pull stations. 22 of these sites have water, electricity and sewage systems.
A minimum of two nights is required for a reservation.
The camping season officially opens on April 1.

2. Robert C. McDonell Campground
The Robert C. McDonell Campground located in Cabin John Regional Park in Bethesda offers seven single-level sites with all the necessary amenities. Visitors can also make reservations.
In addition to camping, Cabin John offers recreational sports, a playground, and trails for visitor enjoyment.

3. C&O Canal Quarters Program
The C&O Canal Quarters program allows its visitors to stay in historic locks that can accommodate up to eight people. There are seven locks in total, five of which are in Montgomery County. Visitors can make reservations here.
