Biker, 30, dies after crashing into lamp post in Stoke-on-Trent

A biker has died after crashing into a lamp post near a Stoke-on-Trent beauty spot. Emergency services were called to Park Hall Road near Park Hall Country Park at 6.24am today (April 9).

Paramedics battled to save the 30-year-old motorcyclist, but he was confirmed dead at the scene a short time later. The road remained closed for several hours while an investigation was underway.

Police have yet to name the biker, but his next of kin have been notified and the North Staffordshire coroner will be notified in due course.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Police called at 6.24am today Park Hall Road at the junction with Defoe Drive following reports of a collision. Officers attended returned to the scene and a motorcycle was found in collision with a lamppost.

“Police closed the road towards Bentilee while emergency services attended the scene. Unfortunately, a 30-year-old man was pronounced dead by paramedics shortly afterwards.

“His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers during this difficult time. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
