Caravans and pods plan approved at the equestrian center

PLANS for three static holiday caravans and three camping pods to be placed in a paddock have been granted.

The bid for Ben Lane Stables, in Ben Lane, Barnoldswick, was approved by Pendle Borough Council who said there were ‘no material reasons to object’.

A first application was made in July last year, with a second application filed with the council in March.

Councilors have approved proposals for the site, which currently includes a small stable and adjoining tack room, riding arena/participation area and grazing paddock.

Existing access from Ben Lane will be unchanged and the existing stables and arena/participation area will be retained.

A planning statement read: ‘The intention is to market the accommodation to tourists who would be attracted to the site as they could bring their own horses and would help promote sustainable tourism associated with walking, horse riding, hiking cycling and appreciation of the natural and historical environment of the region.

The conditions attached to the approval state that the accommodation is for holiday purposes only and must not be occupied as a person’s sole principal residence. Operators must also keep a register of the names of the occupants and their main residence.
