Ladram Bay Holiday Park will be featured in a Channel 4 program on Britain’s best beach destinations on Monday 23rd May.
In the five-part series Best of Britain by the Sea, presenters Ainsley Harriott and Grace Dent travel to coastal areas of the UK, explore the surroundings and sample local food and drink.
The second episode, Monday, sees Grace and Ainsley visit various locations in Devon and stay at Ladram Bay Holiday Park near Budleigh Salterton.
The series was sponsored by the holiday company High seasons with the aim of promoting “staycations” in its seaside accommodation.
The company saw an 11% increase in direct bookings compared to the same period in 2019, and Hoseasons believes this is a sign that, although Covid travel restrictions have eased, staycation’s popularity will endure .
Paul Evans, Vice President of Portfolio at Awaze – the parent company of Hoseasons – said: “We are delighted to be working with Grace, Ainsley, Blink Films and Channel 4 on what we know will be the springtime wellness series. .
“Staycation has never been so popular and it’s great to be doing our part to help highlight some of the amazing places to see and discover along our fantastic coastlines.”
Ladram Bay Holiday Park has been owned by the same family for 79 years. It was created after a group of boy scouts walking the coastal path approached the sharecropper, a Mr. Carter, to ask if he could pitch his tent on his field. The next morning he looked outside and thought, “I have an idea.” He began to set up a proper campsite, which soon grew to include static caravans and a shop.
Over the years Ladram Bay has become one of the UK’s largest family holiday parks and has won numerous awards. Mr. Carter continued to run the business until 2006 when his son Robin and daughter Zoe took over.
Best of Britain by the Sea airs on More4 at 9pm on Monday and will also appear on Channel 4 later in the week.
