Whisby Garden Center will expand its cafe and build a caravan site and holiday lodges

Whisby Garden Center has announced plans for a major expansion which will see an expanded cafe, a new caravan site and holiday lodges. The upgrade would significantly increase the size of the cafe and create space for 39 lakeside touring caravans.

The request has been submitted as the garden center seeks to compete with other local destinations like Pennell’s and Doddington Hall. Many job opportunities would be created, with 10 new full-time and 25 part-time jobs.

The app promises a much improved cafe service with a view of the lake. There is also the possibility of extending its opening hours beyond the current daytime hours in the future. The caravan site will initially provide around 39 pitches, with six lodges nearby, and the potential to expand if they prove popular. The app says it would bring in thousands of pounds of tourist spending in Lincolnshire.

If plans are approved, Whisby Garden Center would also convert a house into offices and build a timber lodge for accommodation. The application states: “The existing cafe/restaurant facilities at Whisby Garden Center are unfortunately tired and operationally insufficient to deliver the very high quality amenities envisaged.

“Clients are providing very positive feedback, but the applicant is acutely aware that the potential is so much greater here and the investment will benefit all parties, strengthening the business and its contribution to the local economy. In order to compete effectively with other successful destinations, such as those at Pennell’s Garden Center and Doddington Hall, and to realize the clear potential that is on offer, there is a need to significantly improve the facilities available to local customers and visitors alike. of the region. .”

The plans have been submitted to North Kesteven District Council and will be decided at a later date.
